What more can I say about the lemon drop martini? It's a classic, with a sweet citrusy profile everyone loves! Buy that bag of lemons during your next grocery store visit, because you'll be making plenty of these!

I'll keep this short and sweet. Because I don't know what else I can say about this cocktail that hasn't already been said. The lemon drop martini is a true crowd-pleaser. You simply can't go wrong by having fresh lemons, citrus vodka and triple sec on hand when friends are coming over. Rim that glass with some super-fine sugar, and you're a star!

I can't stress it enough - don't cheat and use bottled lemon juice! You're going to find the fresh citrus notes are absolutely intoxicating and really add to the tart nature of the cocktail. add a wedge or wheel of lemon as a garnish, and you're also taking advantage of the oils in the peel.

Lemon Drop Martini


Ingredients (makes 1 cocktail)

  • 2 oz citrus vodka

  • 1/2 oz triple sec

  • 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice

  • 1 oz simple syrup

  • Garnish: superfine sugar (to rim) and a lemon wheel

Mix it Up

  1. Prep your martini glass. Run a lemon wedge around the rim and dip in superfine sugar (regular sugar will also work). Set aside.

  2. Fill a shaker or mixing glass with ice. Add the vodka, triple sec, lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake well, at least 30 seconds, so the drink is well-chilled.

  3. Use a strainer and pour the drink into the prepared martini glass.

  4. Add the lemon wheel to garnish.
